Activities 2007 – The European Union: Past, Present, and Future
Energy Security Forum
Prague – Lichtenstejn Palace, November 4-6 2007
Recent years have revealed the existence of a strong relationship between the necessities of guaranteeing energy supply and national security, while dealing with various aspects of climate change. This forum will be a major International Conference held in cooperation with the Forum Ekonomyczne – Institute for Eastern Studies (Warsaw). The panels include:
- Globalized World and Energy Security of the European Union
- European Union and its Relations with Russia
- Czech Presidency 2009
- European Commission and its Role in the Energy Sector
- Sufficiency of Renewable Resources
- Central and Eastern Europe as Transit Regions
Seminar Series: "Use the Opportunity – Planning, Financing, and Delivering EU Projects"
The Czech government has acknowledged that there must be a dramatic improvement in administration in order to take full advantage of EU funding opportunities. This series hopes to targets the needs of three distinct groups involved in these projects: Regional and local government, businesses, and NGOs. The agendas will focus on issues of economic development, and how to plan, fund, and deliver substantial projects.

The Treaty of Rome marked the most significant move towards creating today’s European Union. It introduced entirely new concepts of shared sovereignty and a formal commitment to build a Europe which promoted peace and prosperity, particularly through free markets and mutual support.
