European Manual

The goal of the television programme "European Manual" is to provide objective information on European topics to viewers in an understandable form. The programme has been running since May 2009, when it mapped out the Czech EU presidency, among other things. In light of the fact that Czech Television has decided to become a co-producer and broadcast the show until at least the end of 2010, we have the chance to deal with a wide range of topics this year. In its current form the programme provides information about current affairs (such as the Lisbon Treaty) as well as topics that are more timeless in nature (education and science, the environment, business, etc.), always with emphasis on goings-on in the Czech Republic or in relation to it.

"Everyone can envision something different under the heading 'European topics in an intelligible form'. What we set out to do was create a series for those who want to understand politicians when they speak about problems that are not just faced by the Czech Republic, but by the whole European Union. And above all not to look for one right solution. I think we've been successful in that. The show puts forward European topics in an intelligible form so that everyone can formulate their own answer from the arguments presented." (Blanka Kubíková, programme director)

Presently, you can watch current episodes of European Manual at a new broadcasting time - every Thursday evening on Czech Television's second channel, or repeat broadcasts on Tuesday afternoon and Sunday night on the same channel. Past episodes can also be watched on our website www.anoproevropu.cz
