European Civic Forum
A structured civil dialogue for a citizen-friendly European Union
22 March 2010
Dear members of the European Civic Forum,
As you know, the EC organizes, together with other European networks and platforms and in partnership with EESC Group III, a conference-debate on 22 March 2010 in Brussels, with the participation of the new Commissioner for "Justice, Human Rights and Citizenship", Viviane Reding, and of some other important figures representing organized civil society or European institutions.
This conference will be an occasion to publicly call on the European Union for a structured framework for European civil dialogue, along with the provisions of the Lisbon treaty (article 11). You will find attached the conference document with concrete policy recommendations that will be put forward, as well as all related documents and practical information about the event. You are warmly invited to take part in this important debate and hope to see you in Brussels on 22 March.
Please note that a Board meeting will be held on 23 March 2010 in Brussels (convening letters for Board members will follow shortly) and that the ECF General Assembly will finally take place in Malaga on 7 May in the morning, before the European Civic Days (7, 8 and 9 May).
